🧐Did you know the Danish House in Penrose is home to the largest collection of Danish books in NZ, dwarfing even the National Library's Danish collection? With the addition of some fancy new shelving upstairs, our collection is currently undergoing major maintenance and re-organising.🤓 Unfortunately, due to the space restrictions of the House, from time to time we have to reassess the library's priorities in terms of content. Although we do keep some popular works by non-Danish authors translated into Danish, the library's focus is on Danish works for adults and kids (both fiction and non-fiction). This means that there will be a MASSIVE book sale coming up this year where you will be able to purchase popular works of translated fiction in Danish and books we have been donated multiple copies of. 👀In the meantime, however, 👀we have a big box of over 30 beautifully bound, marbled books from the 1940s by English authors like A. J. Cronin, Hall Caine and Norman Douglas in need of a new home ASAP. Maybe you're a fan? Or maybe you just want some swanky looking books - they are in sets so have huge bookcase appeal if you're wanting to kit out your own home library...If you are interested, comment below or send us a message - we will be taking a koha/donation for the books and pick up is from Takapuna. ...
